TERMITE CONTROL

TERMITE CONTROL FLYER

Thousands of housing units require treatment for the control of termites each year. Common Malaysian termite pests include drywood and subterranean species. These pests cause serious damage to wooden structures and posts and may also attack stored food, books, and household furniture.

In order to have a good termite control program, we will need to do the following:

  • Identify the type of termite

  • Identify source

  • Action plan

  • Monitoring

TERMITE

PREVENTION & ELIMINATION

The best time to do it is during construction or renovation. This is the time when all areas can be treated without hindrance.

For others, there are affordable programs to keep termites out without hassle or massive works.

TERMITE MONITORING

This method involves installing stations at common termite invading areas to monitor termite activity. The stations are checked periodically and it is recommended to check at least once every 3 months.

If termite activity is detected, termite baits will be used to feed the invading termites. The feeding will be carried out every 1 to 2 weeks depending on the size of the termite colony. In most cases, the termite colony will be eliminated after 2 or 3 months.

TERMITE BAITING SYSTEM FOR COLONY ELIMINATION

Termite baiting system designed to attract and eliminate termite colonies in a safe noninvasive way. It uses an insect growth regulator (IGR), Chlorfluazuron, as the active constituent in the bait. Active termites feed on the highly attractive bait food source & translocate the IGR to other members of the colony, at levels undetectable by those termites, until the colony collapses.

The system uses a number of unique stations for in ground & above ground interception of active termites.

PRE-CONSTRUCTION ANTI-TERMITE TREATMENT / SOIL TREATMENT

Also known as SOIL TREATMENT, this preventive method is carried during construction or renovation of the structure.

The objective is to create a chemical barrier on the soil to prevent subterranean termite from infesting the structure.

There are 2 types of termite chemicals commonly used;

- Repellent: termite will be repelled when they sense this chemical

- Non-repellent: termite will not be able to detect this chemical. The objective it to allow termites get in contact with this chemical and contaminate other termites. Eventually, the chemical will reach the nest and the nest will be eliminated.

- Depending on the type of chemical used and the site condition, the treatment can last up to 10 years- .

Warranty certificate of up to 10 years is issued when the treatment is completed.

POST-CONSTRUCTION ANTI-TERMITE TREATMENT / SLAB INJECTION

This basic treatment to prevent termite infestation is to create a chemical barrier beneath the floor slab. This treatment is also known as SLAB INJECTION or CORRECTIVE TREATMENT.

There are 2 types of termite chemicals commonly used;

- Repellent: termite will be repelled when they sense this chemical

- Non-repellent: termite will not be able to detect this chemical. The objective it to allow termites get in contact with this chemical and contaminate other termites. Eventually, the chemical will reach the nest and the nest will be eliminated

- Depending on the type of chemical used and the site condition, the treatment can last up to 5 years.

A warranty certificate is issued when the treatment is completed.

PERMANENT TIMBER PROTECTION

Termite only attacks timber. It is strongly recommended to protect timber products in and around your home.

Timber treatment is affordable and can last for more than 20 years. The treatment is safe, odorless and permanent. This treatment is commonly used in USA, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

In Malaysia, many prominent homes and buildings used this treatment during construction and renovations. Some of them are KLCC Convention Centre, Bank Negara Financial Resource Centre, Royal Selangor Golf Club, IMPIANA KLCC and many others. Many developers’ own homes uses this treatment.

TERMITE

ELIMINATION

When termite activity is detected there are a few options of treatment to be considered.

Most people will try to use the common mosquito or cockroach aerosol. Some will buy termite chemical from the hardware store. Using these chemicals is only short term because these chemicals are repellent. It doesn’t solve the root cause of the problem.

The following methods are worth considering as it is safer and last very much longer.

TERMITE BAITING & MONITORING

Termite baiting is a popular method used by many for termite elimination. This method involves installing stations at areas where termite is detected.

Termite baits will be used to feed the invading termites.

The feeding will be carried out every 1 to 2 weeks depending on the size of the termite colony. In most cases, the termite colony will be eliminated after 2 or 3 months.

The main advantage of this method is termite colony elimination can be determined. It is also non-intrusive; no smell and no mess.

POST-CONSTRUCTION ANTI-TERMITE TREATMENT

This treatment is also known as SLAB INJECTION or CORRECTIVE TREATMENT. For active termite infestation, it is recommended to use a non-repellent termite chemical because it can exterminate the entire colony and safer to use. The termite chemical has no odor.

- Non-repellent: termite will not be able to detect this chemical. The objective it to allow termites get in contact with this chemical and contaminate other termites. Eventually, the chemical will reach the nest and the nest will be eliminated.

- Depending on the type of chemical used and the site condition, the treatment can last up to 5 years.

Warranty certificate of up to 3 years is issued when the treatment is completed.
